What to Serve with German Potato Pancakes?
German Potato Pancakes (Kartoffelpuffer) are savory grated or mashed potatoes. Using grated potatoes and just a few basic ingredients, you can fry up this delicious and inexpensive dish in minutes. These gluten free potato pancakes are perfectly fast addition to any dinner meal.
Potato pancakes or kartoffelpuffer are held together, usually with egg, sometimes flour as well. Hash Browns on the other hand, are usually just the potato, maybe onion and seasonings. Vegan German potato pancakes do not use eggs as binder. Instead, rice flour and chickpea flour is used.
Why are Latkes Served with Applesauce?
Applesauce is light and fruity. When eaten on top of a hot fried potato and onion latke, it is a perfect food combination for a hungry stomach.
